I have been watching some of the Olympics, partly for a couple of interesting sports but mostly because the alternative is usually Law & Order reruns. The good news just keeps coming for the human rights angle - 77 requests for protests and zero approvals, plus a couple of folks sent away for "re-education through labor." With the NBC money machine in full-out hyperbole mode (disclosure - I own GE stock) the travails of a couple of whiners won't stand up to Phelps or Bolt.
A brief (or maybe not so brief) scan of the IOC website fails to unearth anything that hints of this, even though some news stories have quoted IOC representatives.
After Sunday, my much needed fix of team handball and rhythmic gymnastics will have to be put off another four years.
